Little Sun Diamond is a practical solar lamp with a removable stand, perfect to use either at home or out hiking. The lamp's bright white light spreads well through the prisma-like plastic and is strong enough to read by or to light up the tent at night.
The solar lamp works in all kinds of weather, which makes it handy to take on a hike. Little Sun Diamond weighs less than 100 grams and fits in your pocket. If you remove the stand, you can attach the included string and hang the lamp around your neck or on your rucksack to charges while you are hiking.
The solar lamp charges quickly in the sun and is fully charged in five hours. The lamp is very simple to use and has just one button for switching it off and on. When you turn the lamp, it shines brightly for five hours, before switching to a dimmer light, which shines until the lamp goes out completely.
The solar lamp Little Sun Diamond was created by the Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson and the engineer Frederik Ottesen. The company Little Sun is passionate about providing good lighting options to countries without a reliable power supply. For each Little Sun Diamond that is sold, a second lamp is made and sold at a subsidised price in a vulnerable area. Little Sun has been sold at subsidised prices in countries such as Ethiopia, Senegal, Tibet, Zimbabwe and others.
In order to charge, the lamp must be turned off and angled towards the sun. Little Sun Diamond can charge in any weather, but it charges best in direct sunlight. It takes a bit longer for the lamp to charge fully when the weather is cloudy. The lamp should preferably be charged in direct sunlight for eight hours before using it for the first time.
The built-in battery works best in temperatures between 0 and 40°C and should be charged once a month. The battery's lifespan is five years or at least 1500 charges if used daily. The solar lamp is made of highly UV and weather-resistant ABS and PC plastic. The stand is made of nickel plated steel.
