- Jump starter for a dead battery
- For cars, boat and other vehicles with 12V battery
- Can be used as a Powerbank for your phone
Redstart 50 is a compact and easy to use jump starter that is easy to use when your battery's flat and your vehicle won't start. The jump starter is connected to the flat battery using the included start cables to make it easy to start your car or boat again.
The jump starter works with conventional cars, motorbikes and caravans, as well as snowmobiles, boats and many other vehicles with a 12V battery. The jump starter has a robust design and is waterproof to depths of 1 metre, so you can start the car even when it's pouring with rain.
The four LED lights show the jump starter's current battery status. Each light equals 25% battery charge. If only one light is flashing the battery needs to be charged. When all four lights are on the battery is fully charged. The jump starter needs at least 75% battery to start a vehicle.
Compatibility
The jump starter is compatible with 12V vehicles with engine sizes of up to 7.0L (petrol) and 4.5L (diesel).
Using the jump starter as a Powerbank
The jump starter has two USB-A ports and a USB-C port that you can use to charge conventional 5V devices, such as phones, tablets and other USB-charged devices. The USB-C port is powerful enough to charge a laptop that can be charged via USB-C.
The jump starter has an inbuilt pocket torch. Hold in the button for three seconds to switch on the torch. Press once to turn on the SOS setting and press again to turn on a quickly flashing light. Hold in the button again to turn off the torch.
When you aren't using the jump starter you can store it in the included case. The case has room for the jump starter, charger and start cables and is practical for storage in the glove compartment or with the spare tyre in the boot.
How to start the vehicle
Start the jump starter and make sure at least three LED lights are on (75% battery).
Connect the start cables to the EC5-port. The small light on the start cables should now alternately flash red/green. If only the green light is pulsing you need to charge the battery more before you can start the car.
Connect the red start cable to the plus (+) pole on the car's battery. Then connect the black start cable to the minus (-) pole on the car's battery. If the LED light on the cables turns red the cables might not be connected properly. Check the cable connection and make sure the light is flashing green/red before you start the car.
If the car doesn’t start, disconnect the start cables for 30 seconds and try again. If it still doesn't work after three attempts you can use the Force Start button. Attach the start cables to the battery and press the Force Start button for three seconds until the green light comes on without flashing. Start the car within 30 seconds. When the car has started you must disconnect the start cables from the car battery and the jump starter's battery within 30 seconds.
Note: The instructions are also printed on the start cables so you can always refer to them.
Charging and flat battery
Make sure the jump starter""s battery is charged regularly. It must be at least 75% charged to start a vehicle. Charge the battery at least every three months. This reduces the risk of the battery going flat so it's always ready to use when you need it.
The battery is charged with the included Micro-USB cable and takes approx. 6-8 hours to charge fully. You can also charge the jump starter with a USB-C cable.
Safety functions
The jump starter has a range of safety functions. It has reverse polarity protection, is spark resistant and has inbuilt protection against overheating. It also has inbuilt short circuit protection to keep you safe if the clamps happen to touch each other.
