We Swedes burn between 300-400 million tealights a year, which in turn produces 225 tonnes of aluminum.
Recycling aluminum consumes 95% less energy than new production. This means that the soft drink cans, bikes or motors manufactured from recycled aluminum have a less negative impact on the environment.
Do a good thing for the environment and start recycling old heating lights. Note that the wick holder, the steel piece in which the wick is stuck, must be loosened. If the wick holder is not loose, the light cup follows the steel and goes up in smoke instead of being recycled. A real waste!
The wick holder does not need to be sorted separately, but it is sufficient that it is loose. In the recycling process, the wick holder will be separated from the heat lamp cup using a large magnet.
